Big thanks given to her for doing our regional directory!

Great job on this Spring Clinic.

National Meeting report given by Holly Becker.

Holly mentioned that the national dues were discussed and that the $85(existing members) and $95(new member) fees that each member is charged is offset by nationals adding about $200 per member to cover yearly costs.

The HB testing is suggested to be held in the off riding season so that it will help to clear up the examiners schedule for the national ratings that are required for the riding portions of ratings. Our Region is looking at a possible February testing date with this in mind, other discussion pursued.

Holly also mentioned to be sure to download and read the rule changes that came out in the Spring 2009 Newsletter from Nationals.

The next National Meeting will be held in January of 2010 in Texas.

NYC Report: Lauren Tate was our representative for 2009 but was unable to attend this meeting.

Candidates were discussed for 2010 and will be voted on at Fall Regional Meeting in October.

Please be familiar with criteria for eligibility and send in a letter for being considered for the 2010 conference to Jo Dean by August for review.

Quiz Rally Report: Rally was reported as well liked by competitors and only a small problem with forming teams was discussed but will be monitored more closely for 2010. The Rally was a financial success adding to the Regions funds. Sawtooth volunteered to host for 2010 of March and would like to be primary club for organizing. More discussion followed concerning D rated teams stay within their clubs if possible and C rated teams be all scramble teams.

UPPER LEVEL RATINGS

Participation: Members needed to let Holly Becker know by April 15th of their National Testing intentions. Discussion followed which included that for next year we need to have a date set for testing ahead of time even if we don’t have enough candidates so that candidates can plan for and commit to ratings sooner.

Letters: Holly will be in touch with upper level members and would like to hear from all members in this category concerning any desires for testing or prep clinic needs. If you have not been contacted, please contact her and get set up on the email listing.

Prep Clinics: Regional Prep Clinics are now mandatory for any National Rating. There will be a fall HB prep clinic held in conjunction with the Regional Fall Meeting on October 17 2009 taught by Ingrid George, this clinic is open to all C &UP members and is mandatory for any member wanting to Rate to the HB level as the test will be regionally offered in February 2010.

Upper Level Prep Cont.

2 HB Preps will be offered spring and fall coinciding with the Regional meetings held. 1 prep will be offered yearly for C3 and up ratings to be taught by a Nationally approved examiner. As we are too late this year in getting a National Examiner that would cover all phases of rating (riding and non riding portions) lined up the following motion was made:

Motion was made as follows:

Any upper level candidate going for a National Rating in the 2009 season may qualify for a $100 scholarship from the Intermountain Region to help fund a prep from out of state or Regionally approved source. This motion will only be good through the 2009 season.

Motion was accepted, seconded and unanimously passed.

More discussion followed concerning the tests and preps including that Ingrid George would help staff the 2 biannual preps.

Ingrid is also inviting all C&UP members to join her on her face book page were she can help with lesson plans and question that members may have. Ingrid will be in charge of monitoring this site and it’s integrity and purposes under Ingrid George on face book.

Holly Becker also mentioned that there is another website that is sponsored by the National Pony club website that you can link to if you are 13 yrs. Old and up under MySpace.

Holly also organized a group for the C level and upper rated members called the C&UP’s or C-Ups club. After any member reaches their C level, they will be awarded a special cup to recognize their achievements. All members that currently qualify will be receiving their cup as soon as numbers can be counted and ordered. This is to help all upper level members feel united and recognized for the hard work and effort that they put forth for gaining knowledge and maturity.

REGION MEMBERSHIP FEE:

Motion was made as follows.

The Intermountain Regional Fee’s will increase from $17 per member yearly to $25 per member yearly.
