Event Derby Clinic w/KOC at Rafter K

This is not a pony club event but will be a great opportunity to members in the region. I have included information about this derby below. Thanks Linda Ferri for writing this info up)

The Derby’s are put on by IDEA (Idaho Dressage and Eventing Association). They offer classes from ground poles to Prelim so everyone can join in. You ride a dressage test and then a combo Stadium/XC round (stadium jumps are intermingled with the XC). Fun relaxed atmosphere; decent price; etc. They have a series of 4 Derby’s throughout the year. Check out their website www.idahodressageandeventing.org for more info. Last year at this Derby we had kids from Boise, Magic Valley, McCall, Jackson Hole and Gamble Oaks!

I have heard rumors that the KOC clinc may be Friday and Saturday (normally the clinics are only on Saturday) and the Derby is on Sunday.

Event Derby

The Rafter K is the home of Larry Kraay (who owns Dry Next Shavings). He built a unique XC course throughout his pastures in a gorgeous setting with one of the nicest water complexes around this area. It is located just south of Bellevue, ID (Sun Valley area). They offer ample area for primitive camping in the field.

Riding and Horsemanship Camp @ Knox Farm

Any D’s who participate will have a good tune up for the D rally. Of course, adults are welcome with or without children! Copy of program has been sent to regional email list.

This camp is meant to be a fun, family, learning experience in all aspects of riding and horsemanship. It is open to youth (8 years old and up) as well as adults. Parents are encouraged to attend with their children. Participants will have two mounted lessons daily encompassing flatwork, dressage, grids, stadium jumping, cross country jumping and pace. Riders who do not wish to jump will be accommodated. In addition, there will be unmounted lessons on stable management and horse care, as well as hands on lessons in lunging, long lining, ground work and manners for your horse. There will also be opportunities for mounted games and polocrosse. A guide will be available to lead trail rides in the beautiful Portneuf Range on the King Creek Ranch and Caribou National Forest contiguous to Knox Farm.

Further information on these activities is available from Chris Knox 208- 648-7175 chris@knoxfarm.com
